Proud daddy

by Tim Cull

Just the last couple of weeks, my son has started speaking in sentences. Sure, they’re only two or three words long, but they’re definitely sentences.

Every time he learns something new, I can’t help but think he’s a flat-out genius. I’ve watched him go from being a tiny baby who can’t hold his head up or focus on a face to being a real person who wants things and expresses things, and figures new things out. Now he recognizes himself in a mirror and says “Miles!” and I beam with pride.

I could have never imagined the feeling before I actually had him, and now I can’t describe it. I hope it never, ever dulls.
