Presentation at Microsoft Today on Azure Cloud

by Tim Cull

I was invited to talk at a technical preview event for Microsoft’s Azure cloud today. The audience was a crowd of CIO’s and software vendors who are all trying to figure out how to make this cloud thing work for them.

The whole presentation can be found below. It’s the culmination of some work I’ve been doing with CSRware, a company that makes software to help corporations understand their energy usage and other impacts on the environment.

At the same event I got to hear Dave Chappell speak (and speak, and speak, for two hours). He is a fantastically talented speaker and well worth the listen.

The bottom line? As with any technology really, there are good uses for it and bad uses. For Microsoft’s Azure cloud there are several sweet spots for early stage startups, internal business units, and anyone else who wants a very low administration overhead and/or has to deal with “peaky” load profiles.
